Philippines and PNG have taken wins in today’s matches in the 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup East Asia-Pacific Qualifier. The Philippines added points for the first time in the tournament while PNG continued their winning streak.
Vanuatu and Philippines:
Vanuatu and Philippines saw each other in the first match played today where Vanuatu batted first winning the toss in the match. The Vanuatu team made a total of 97 runs in 19.3 overs of the first inning of the match losing ten wickets against Philippines. Jarryd Allan made the most 36 runs off 35 for Vanuatu. Kepler Lukies, Daniel Smith, Huzaifa Mohammed and Amanpreet Sirah took two wickets each with Liam Myott taking a wicket for the Philippines in the match.
Philippines made a total of 98 runs for the loss of the four wickets in 17.4 overs of the second inning of the match. Jordan Alegre made the most 30 runs off 29 in the match for the team. Joshua Rasu and Williamsing Nalisa took two wickets for Vanuatu in the match.
Philippines won the match by six wickets.
Japan vs PNG:
The second match of the day was between Japan and Papua New Guinea where Japan batted first in the match winning the toss and made a total of 87 runs for the loss of eight wickets in inning 1 of the match. Semo Kamea took two wickets for PNG in the match with John Kariko, Kabua Morea, Sese Bau and Norman Vanua taking a wicket each.
Papua New Guinea (PNG) won the match chasing the target in 15.1 overs of the second inning of the match where Charles Amini made the most 30 not out runs off 28 for the team in the match played against the Japan’s cricket team. PNG lost four wickets on the way where Reo Sakurano-Thomas took two wickets and Ibrahim Takahashi and Makoto Taniyama took a wicket each for Japan.
Papua New Guinea won the match by six wickets.
