The second day of the 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup East Asia-Pacific Qualifier have concluded today with Japan and PNG continuing finding wins in the Qualifier. Japan won over Vanuatu and PNG won over Philippines on Day 2 of the running EAP Qualifier.
Japan vs Vanuatu:
The first match of the day was between Japan and Vanuatu where Japan batted first as an invitation to bat first in the match from Vanuatu Cricket Team after the toss of the match. Japan made 131 on the scoreboard in the first inning of the match before being concluded in 19.4 overs by the opponents Vanuatu. Kendel Kadowaki-Fleming made top 65 runs off 54 deliveries for the team in match played. Nalin Nipiko took four wickets for Vanuatu in the match with Patrick Matautaava and Joshua Rasu taking three and two wickets respectively.
Vanuatu made 110 runs for the loss of eight wickets in the second inning of the match with Andrew Mansale making the top 29 runs for the team in 33 deliveries. Ryan Drake took most three wickets for Japan in the match with Piyush Kumbhare taking two wickets and Reo Sakurano-Thomas, Declan Suzuki and Ibrahim Takahashi taking one wicket each.
Japan won the match by 21 runs.
PNG vs Philippines:
The second match of the day was between Papua New Guinea and Philippines where Papua New Guinea batting first in the match after winning the toss made 162 runs losing seven wickets in Hiri Hiri’s 46 runs off 27 runs to post a strong target of 163 runs to Philippines where Kepler Lukies, Daniel Smith and Miggy Podosky from Philippines took two wickets and Liam Myott took a wicket for Philippines.
Philippines were bowled completely for 45 runs in 17 overs of the second inning by the bowlers of Papua New Guinea after Kabua Morea took fifer with Charles Amini and Hiri Hiri taking two wickets each and John Kariko taking a wicket.
Papua New Guinea won the match by 117 runs.
