Joe Root fell short of breaking Mohammad Yousuf’s record

The right-handed batsman, Joe Root, fell short of breaking Mohammad Yousuf’s record. Root failed to break the record of Pakistan’s Mohammad Yousaf of most runs in a calendar year. He ends his 2021 with the third-most calendar-year Test runs in history.

Earlier, on the third day of the Test against England, he was dismissed on 28 runs on 59 balls. Root is left with 1,708 runs for the year, with an average of 61.00. He is behind Mohammad Yousuf’s 1,788 runs (in 2006) and West Indian legend Viv Richards’s 1,710 runs (in 1976).

“I think I probably wanted it too much, I was too desperate and it had probably a negative impact on the way I played, I put too much pressure on myself,” said Root as England suffered the most humiliating against Australia.

Opener Rory Burns ranked second in the list. He scored 530 points with a score of 27.89 this year. Then, Jonny Bairstow is at third with 391 runs at 24.43.
