Bangladesh Premier League

Sylhet Sixers and Rangpur Riders won the opening matches of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).

The 1st and 2nd matches of the BPL featured today conclude between Sylhet Sixers vs. Chattogram Challengers and Commilla Victorians vs. Rangpur Riders. Sylhet Sixers and Rangpur Riders won their respective matches in the 1st and 2nd match of the BPL.

In the first match of the season, the Chattogram Challengers only managed to score 89 runs in their 20 overs while batting first. Atif Hossain was the top run contributor for the team. In a low-scoring encounter, the Sylhet Sixers ultimately came out on top, securing a big victory.

Rejaur Rahman Raja took four crucial wickets and Mohammad Amir took two wickets for Sylhet Sixers, while Mashrafe Mortaza, Thisara Perera, and Colin Ackermann took one wicket each. With the help of Najmul Hossain Shanto, who made 43 runs off 41 balls, the Sylhet Sixers easily chased down their 90-run target, losing just four wickets in 12 overs to win the match by six wickets.

Malinda Pushpakumara and Mrittunjoy Chowdhury took one wicket each for the Chattogram Challengers. Rejaur Rahman Raja was named Player of the Match for his economical 4/14 bowling.

In the second match, Commilla Victorians and Rangpur Riders faced off, with Commilla Victorians winning the toss and electing to bowl first. Rangpur Riders made 176/5 in their 20 overs, with Rony Talukdar and Shoaib Malik scoring 67 (31), and 33 (26), respectively. Mosaddek Hossain, Fazalhaq Farooqi, Mustafizur Rahman and Khushdil Shah each took one wicket for Commilla Victorians.

In reply, the Comilla Victorians only managed to score 142/10 in their 19.1 overs and lost the game by 83 runs. Imrul Kayes made 35 runs off 23 balls for the team, making him the top run contributor for the team. Robiul Haque took three wickets and Hasan Mahmud took two wickets for Rangpur Riders.

Rony Talukdar was named Player of the Match for his 66(31) team contribution.
