More than 100 children appeared in Nelson Mandela Talent Hunt Program in Karachi

More than a hundred children/U19 cricketers reached TMC Cricket Ground in Karachi in order to give trials for Nelson Mandela Talent Hunt Program. These hundreds of cricketers dream big, with an inspiring vision, appeared in the trials and are aiming to get favourable results now.

Shadab Kabir, Asim Kamal, Tahir Khan, Ahmer Saeed and Mohtashim Rasheed were among the supervisors and selectors, under whom, the players gave trials in their departs. While some proved their mettle in batting, others showed sharp skills with terrific bowling and wicket-keeping.

“I am surprised to see such a massive response from the youngsters of Karachi,” said Tahir Khan, a former first-class cricketer, while speaking to GeoSuper.tv on the sidelines of trials.

“We have found so much talent here. These players are putting in every effort to get selected. There are some really good batters, spinners, and fast bowlers. We will try to do the selection on merit,” he added.

Notably, around 80 cricketers will be shortlisted by the end of these trials on June 12th. After that, four teams will be made for a three-day tournament. Players, who will prove their worth throughout the process, will be included in the U-16 team set to fly to South Africa later this year.

“Today is the first day and you can see the response. The competition is tough, I hope we could do justice to the players. It’s a great initiative taken by South Africa’s High Commission to Pakistan. I hope the best possible players get a chance to train in the tough conditions of South Africa,” Khan concluded.

It is pertinent to mention that ex-skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed, and Test cricketer Fawad Alam are the mentors of these trials.
