The T20 Blast tournament has witnessed some breathtaking batting displays over the years, with teams piling up massive scores on the board. In this article, we’ll take a look at the top five highest team totals in the history of the T20 Blast.
Somerset – 265/5 against Derbyshire
On 9th July 2022 at Taunton, Somerset achieved a monumental total of 265/5 against Derbyshire. Somerset’s batsmen were in scintillating form, scoring at a staggering run rate of 13.25 runs per over. Their innings showcased the power and precision of T20 batting.
Birmingham Bears – 261/2 against Notts
At Nottingham on 17th June 2022, the Birmingham Bears secured the second-highest team total in the T20 Blast. They amassed an impressive 261/2 against Notts. The Bears’ batsmen dominated the opposition, maintaining a run rate of 13.05 throughout their innings.
Yorkshire – 260/4 against Northants
Yorkshire etched their name in the record books with a formidable total of 260/4 against Northants on 17th August 2017 at Leeds. Their batsmen showcased their prowess, scoring at a rapid rate of 13 runs per over to achieve this monumental total.
Surrey – 258/6 against Sussex
Surrey also makes it to the list with their score of 258/6 against Sussex on 9th June 2023 at Hove. The Surrey batsmen displayed their aggressive intent, piling on the runs with a commendable run rate of 12.9.
Yorkshire – 255/2 against Leicestershire
Completing the top five, Yorkshire once again makes an appearance with a mammoth total of 255/2 against Leicestershire on 23rd July 2019 at Leicester. The Yorkshire batsmen unleashed a barrage of boundaries, scoring at a blistering rate of 12.75 runs per over.
These incredible team totals highlight the explosive nature of T20 cricket and the immense power possessed by modern-day batsmen. With teams constantly pushing the boundaries of run-scoring, it will be intriguing to see if these records are challenged and broken in future editions of the T20 Blast.
