The International Cricket Council (ICC) has taken swift action to ban the notorious serial pitch invader known as “Jarvo 69” following his latest intrusion during the India-Australia ICC World Cup 2023 match in Chennai. The incident unfolded as Jarvo breached security barriers and appeared on the field shortly after the Indian team had taken their fielding positions.
Why Jarvo 69 is banned?
Officials promptly escorted him out of the ground, alongside India’s cricket captain, Virat Kohli. However, the ICC wasted no time in responding to this security breach. An ICC spokesperson confirmed that the individual involved has been banned from attending any further games at the event, and the matter has been handed over to Indian authorities for appropriate action.
The ICC expressed its unwavering commitment to the safety and security of everyone involved in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023. They also stated their intent to collaborate with the venue to thoroughly investigate the incident and determine whether additional security measures are necessary to prevent such breaches in the future.
Notably, Jarvo 69 has a history of invading sports fields, not only in cricket but also in various other sports. He had previously been banned from English grounds after multiple pitch invasions during India’s 2021 tour of England. However, this incident marked his first appearance at an Indian venue and will be his last, as he is no longer permitted to enter any Indian stadium.
“Jarvo 69” is also known for his YouTube channel, boasting over 180,000 subscribers, where he shares videos of his pitch invasions at different sporting events. One of his most infamous breaches occurred during the 2021 UEFA Champions League final between Real Madrid and Liverpool in Paris, where he not only invaded the field but also managed to join the Los Blancos’ players during their celebrations.
