The anticipation for the Pakistan Super League (PSL 2024) is reaching new heights as reports suggest that only four prominent venues – Karachi, Rawalpindi, Lahore, and Multan – will play host to the thrilling matches. Interestingly, these same venues successfully hosted the matches in the previous season of the league, contributing to the vibrant atmosphere that PSL is renowned for.
However, the exclusion of Peshawar as a host city for PSL 2024 has raised eyebrows, as earlier this year, Javed Afridi, the owner of Peshawar Zalmi, shared promising footage of Arbab Niaz Stadium. Reports claimed that 95% of the work had been completed, while Javed expressed optimism that the venue would be ready to host PSL 9 matches. Despite this, reports now indicate Peshawar’s exclusion from the list of hosting cities, emphasizing concerns over the stadium’s readiness.
On a positive note, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) remains committed to completing Peshawar’s stadium work within the next two months, alleviating concerns and keeping the door open for future PSL editions. Meanwhile, Quetta’s Bugti Stadium, initially earmarked as a host venue, is also in the spotlight, indicating the dynamic nature of venue selections for the league.
Multan has emerged as a contender for hosting the final matches of PSL 2024, with the team assuring the PCB that they can draw a sizable crowd. The decision, however, remains pending as the PCB is yet to finalize the host city for the grand finale. The upcoming PSL promises an exciting lineup of talent, with the draft scheduled to take place on December 13. Over 400 players are set to showcase their skills, adding to the suspense and excitement surrounding the league.
As fans eagerly await the official announcement, the tentatively scheduled start date for PSL 2024 is February 19, promising another season of gripping cricket action that captivates audiences across the nation.
