In that season, Karachi Kings emerged triumphant in both round-robin matches against Islamabad United, showcasing their dominance on the field and marking a memorable achievement in their head-to-head encounters.
In today’s match, opting to bowl first after winning the toss, United restricted Kings to a total of 150/7. Shan Masood and co had decent contributions from Kieron Pollard (39 off 28), James Vince (29 off 27), and Tim Seifert (26 off 19). However, the United bowlers, led by Tymal Mills (3/34), Faheem Ashraf (2/16), and Imad Wasim (1/18), put up a formidable display, limiting the Kings’ scoring opportunities.
In response, United chased down the target with five wickets in hand and eight balls to spare. Shadab led the charge with a brisk 34 off 26 deliveries, supported by Salman Ali Agha’s 33 off 30 and an unbeaten 26 off 16 balls from Haider Ali. This victory marks United’s dominance over Kings, with the latter failing to secure a win against their rivals for the past four years. Notably, in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024 season, Karachi suffered defeat in both encounters against Islamabad, highlighting the consistent performance of the latter in the tournament.
