In a disappointing conclusion to their T20I series, Pakistan Women fell to England by 34 runs in the third and final match held on Sunday, May 19, at Leeds. This loss marked the end of a challenging series for Pakistan, who were unable to secure a win in any of the three matches.
Pakistan Women Lose Third T20I to England by 34 Runs, Ending Series Winless
England set a formidable target, posting 176 runs after being all out. Danni Wyatt was the standout performer, scoring an impressive 87 runs off 48 balls, including 14 fours and one six. Pakistani bowlers put in a spirited effort, with captain Nida Dar and pacer Diana Baig each taking three wickets, and new pace sensation Fatima Sana claiming one wicket.
Chasing 177 runs, Pakistan got off to a steady start with openers Gul Feroza and Sidra Amin laying a solid foundation. Feroza contributed 30 runs off 29 balls, while Amin added 26 runs off 29 balls. However, their progress was halted when Amin was dismissed by Sophie Ecclestone, and in the subsequent over, Feroza fell to Charlie Dean.
Following these key dismissals, Pakistan’s batting lineup began to crumble. Nida Dar and Aliya Riaz attempted to rebuild the innings, with Dar scoring 29 runs off 24 balls, including three fours and one six, and Riaz making 35 runs off 27 balls, hitting four fours. Despite their efforts, the team couldn’t recover from the collapse, ultimately falling short of the target.
England’s bowlers put in a collective effort, with Dean, Ecclestone, Lauren Filer, and Danielle Gibson each taking one wicket to restrict Pakistan’s chase.
Pakistan started the tour on May 11 with a loss, and the T20I series concluded without a victory for the Girls in Green. They will look to regroup and come back stronger as they prepare to face England in an ODI series starting from May 23.
