Virat Kohli has made history by becoming the first batter to score 3000 runs in ICC Men’s World Cups. This milestone was achieved during his 37-run innings against Bangladesh in the T20 World Cup 2024. Kohli’s 37 runs came off 28 balls, featuring four boundaries and three sixes, with a strike rate of 132.14.

Kohli continues to be the leading run-scorer in T20 World Cup history, having amassed 1,207 runs in 32 matches at an impressive average of 63.52 and a strike rate of 129.78. In the current tournament, he has scored 66 runs in five games, with an average of 13.20 and a strike rate of 108.19. His highest score in this edition so far is 37.

In addition to his T20 achievements, Kohli is also the second-highest run-scorer in 50-over World Cups, with 1,795 runs in 37 innings. He averages 59.83 with a strike rate of 88.20 in ODIs, including five centuries and 12 fifties, with a highest score of 117.

The top five run-scorers in World Cup tournaments now include Kohli (3002), Rohit Sharma (2637), David Warner (2502), Sachin Tendulkar (2278), and Kumar Sangakkara (2193).

In their second Super 8 match of the T20 World Cup 2024, India posted a formidable total of 196/5 against Bangladesh. Contributions from Kohli, Rishabh Pant, Shivam Dube, and an unbeaten 50 off 27 balls by Hardik Pandya were crucial. India have maintained dominance over Bangladesh in T20I clashes, winning 12 out of their 13 encounters.
