Cricket West Indies (CWI) today expressed gratitude to Graeme West for his 12 years of dedicated service to the organization and the West Indies teams. West, who joined CWI on June 1, 2012, as the Head Coach of the High-Performance Centre in Cave Hill, Barbados, will officially depart from his current role as High-Performance Manager on September 30, 2024.
CWI Director of Cricket, Miles Bascombe, expressed deep appreciation for West’s contributions, saying, “I sincerely thank Graeme for his 12 years of service to West Indies cricket. He has played a significant role in the development of our High-Performance system and spearheaded initiatives that will continue long after his departure. We wish him all the best as he embarks on the next chapter of his career.”
Reflecting on his time at CWI, Graeme West stated, “I am grateful for the opportunities CWI has given me over the past twelve years. I leave as a more experienced coach and leader, and most importantly, a World Cup winner. The relationships I’ve built with players, coaches, and staff are invaluable, and I will always cherish my time spent in the Caribbean.”
West’s tenure saw him take on pivotal roles, including five years at the High-Performance Centre in Barbados and seven years at CWI Headquarters in Antigua. As the West Indies Under-19 Men’s Head Coach, his crowning achievement was leading the team to World Cup glory in 2016. He also guided the West Indies ‘A’ Team to series wins against Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. Under his leadership as High-Performance Manager, Graeme helped establish crucial Men’s and Women’s Academy programs and the U19 Pathway Programs.
