The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has started the process of dismantling a massive electronic screen from Karachi’s National Stadium as part of major renovations ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy. The screen installed at the University Road end in the Intikhab Alam Enclosure was blocking the view for around 1,500 seats, which was annoying the fans. After visiting the site, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi directed the shifting of the screen to improve the view for the spectators.
The disconnection of LED panels from the site marks the beginning of the dismantling process. In the following days, the rest of the screen will be brought down; already, the smaller screen adjacent to the Waqar Hasan Enclosure has already been taken away. The PCB authorities are contemplating shifting the main screen to a new location as they eye a rise in its height between the enclosures Majid Khan and Zaheer Abbas after a proper survey is conducted to ascertain the apt position.
Apart from that, the main screen’s movement, two bigger screens will be installed on raised positions on either side of the mid-wicket area. This will provide fans with an exceptional match view of the entire stadium without blockages in their line of sight.
Upgrade efforts reflect the commitment of PCB to enhancing the experience of fans with the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy. The changes that will be implemented will greatly improve the atmosphere within the stadium, thus helping fans focus on the match without obstruction from blocked views. When these changes are implemented, the stadium will significantly improve in terms of its infrastructure and accessibility to the fans.
This improvement in the viewing facilities in the stadium has come as a result of PCB’s commitment to ensuring that the stadium meets international standards while offering an improved experience to both local and visiting cricket fans. All these developments will ensure that ICC Champions Trophy cricket fans enjoy their games entertainingly and with great visuals.
