A sold-out Grand Prairie Stadium witnessed a masterclass from the Texas Super Kings as Faf du Plessis’ unbeaten century and Akeal Hosein’s spin wizardry powered them to a 39-run victory over MI New York. The win sealed TSK’s place in the 2025 Major League Cricket playoffs.
Du Plessis’ Commanding Century
After losing Smit Patel early to George Linde, skipper Faf du Plessis took control with a blistering 21-ball fifty. His 103* (56 balls) – his second MLC 2025 ton – anchored TSK’s imposing 223/4. Marcus Stoinis (28) provided support before Donovan Ferreira’s explosive 53* (20 balls), matching the fastest MLC fifty, propelled the innings.
Hosein’s Spin Web Strangles MI New York
MI New York’s chase faltered early as Nandre Burger removed Nicholas Pooran in the 4th over. Left-arm spinner Akeal Hosein then dismantled the middle order with 3/15, dismissing Monank Patel and Quinton de Kock. Kieron Pollard’s fiery 70 (39) offered hope, but Burger and Stoinis closed out the game, restricting MINY to 184/8.
Playoffs Secured, Home Dominance Continues
TSK’s victory extends their unbeaten streak at Grand Prairie, fueled by electrifying crowd support. MI New York, meanwhile, must regroup quickly to stay alive in the tournament.
