Stafanie Taylor Steers Guyana Amazon Warriors into WCPL 2025 Final with Win over Knight Riders

Stafanie Taylor WCPL 2025

The Women’s Caribbean Premier League (WCPL) 2025 witnessed a defining contest in Providence as Guyana Amazon Warriors Women sealed their place in the final with a composed five-wicket win over Trinbago Knight Riders Women. The victory, achieved with seven balls to spare, sets up a blockbuster clash against Barbados Royals in the championship decider.

Warriors Dominate in Providence

The Knight Riders, searching for their first win of the season, opted to bat first after winning the toss. Their innings never quite found fluency, as the Warriors’ bowlers applied relentless pressure. Molly Penfold was exceptional with the new ball, returning 4 for 17 in a devastating spell that dismantled the top order.

While wickets kept tumbling, Jess Jonassen fought back with grit, registering her maiden WCPL half-century (51 off 45). Deandra Dottin chipped in with a steady 31, but the total of 123 for 7 felt underwhelming on a surface that eased out under lights.

Taylor’s Class Guides the Chase

In reply, Guyana suffered an early setback as in-form opener Realeanna Grimmond fell cheaply to Dottin. But Amy Hunter (27 off 31) steadied the ship, playing the support role perfectly. The real backbone of the chase, however, came from the seasoned Stafanie Taylor.

Taylor’s knock of 39 off 44 balls wasn’t flashy but it was priceless, blending patience with timely strokes to keep the chase on track. Even after falling late to Shikha Pandey (2/23), the Warriors were well within reach. They crossed the finish line at 125/5 in 18.5 overs, booking their ticket to Sunday’s final.

Knight Riders’ Campaign Ends in Disappointment

The result confirmed Trinbago Knight Riders’ exit from the competition, their third consecutive defeat leaving them at the bottom of the table. Their bowling lacked penetration outside of Pandey and Salonee Dangore (2/27), and their batting leaned too heavily on Jonassen and Dottin.

For the Warriors, the win means momentum heading into the final, where they will face Barbados Royals in a dress rehearsal just days before the decider.
