CPL 2025 Awards Recap: Pollard, Sampson, Tahir and Hope Shine in Record-Breaking Season

The Caribbean Premier League 2025 came to a thrilling close with Trinbago Knight Riders lifting their fifth title. Alongside the championship drama, the tournament dished out several individual awards that highlighted brilliance, breakthroughs, and unforgettable moments across six weeks of action.

Player of the Tournament – Kieron Pollard (Trinbago Knight Riders)

At 38, Kieron Pollard proved why he remains one of the greatest entertainers in franchise cricket. He amassed 383 runs in 11 innings at a staggering strike rate of 174.09, with three half-centuries and 36 sixes. Pollard’s ability to accelerate late in innings and his leadership in clutch moments were instrumental in TKR’s title-winning campaign.

His tally of 20 sixes showcased his enduring power game, while his average of 54.71 reflected the calmness of a seasoned finisher. Pollard fittingly capped off his legendary CPL career with yet another player-of-the-tournament trophy.

Breakout Player of the Tournament – Quinton Sampson (Guyana Amazon Warriors)

The young opener lit up the tournament with fearless batting, scoring 241 runs in nine innings at a brisk strike rate of 151.57. His two half-centuries, including a career-best 76, marked him as the Warriors’ rising star. Sampson’s clean hitting against pace and spin alike made him the standout breakout player in CPL 2025.

Highest Wicket-Taker – Imran Tahir (Guyana Amazon Warriors)

At 46, Imran Tahir once again turned back the clock. He finished as the tournament’s leading wicket-taker with 23 scalps in 12 matches at an exceptional average of 15.04. His best figures of 5/21 reminded fans of his match-winning pedigree.

Usman Tariq of TKR wasn’t far behind, claiming 20 wickets across 10 outings, but Tahir’s consistency and knack for breakthroughs kept him ahead of the pack.

Highest Run-Scorer – Shai Hope (Guyana Amazon Warriors)

Shai Hope was the most reliable batter of the season, topping the charts with 491 runs in 12 innings at an average of 49.10. His four fifties combined fluency with durability, anchoring Guyana’s batting line-up throughout the season.
