It was a dream start for the Melbourne Stars of the season, as they clinched the first game on the first delivery of the 17th over and earned Bonus Point. Bonus Point termed as “Bash Boost“.

That was an empathic win and became a one sided game almost, that was the reason Melbourne Stars didn’t use their Power Surge in the run-chase. Maxwell and Cartwright make 46 each, major contributors of the run-chase.

Earlier bowling first Stars bowlers, Coulter-Nile (4 wickets) and Dilber’s (2 wickets) restricted Heat at 125 only.

Nathan Coulter-Nile (Player of the Match)

“It was nice to win, though I was a little nervous when we start batting, and I was surprised we chose to bowl. It wasn’t a 124 wicket but it was harder to score than we thought, I had no idea what the plans were, just did what I was told. Nice to get the points, any points but especially the bonus point for being ahead.”

Brief Scorecard:

Brisbane Heat 125/10 Overs 19.5 (Tom Cooper 26; Nathan Coulter-Nile 4-10, Dilbar Hussain 2-25)

Melbourne Stars 129/4 Overs 17.1 (Hilton Cartwright 46*, Glenn Maxwell 46; Matthew Kuhnemann 1-23, Jack Wood 2-28)

Result: Melbourne Stars won by 6 wickets.
