The cricketing gala is awaiting all eyes on the Lanka Premier League 2024 from July 1 to July 24. This year too, it is going to be action-packed with head-to-head game schedules featuring five franchise teams, after which this would be followed by a double round-robin league with playoffs thereafter.
On the participation front, teams include Galle Marvels, Dambulla Sixers, Jaffna Kings, Kandy Falcons, and Colombo Strikers; the last one being the defending champion. Every team will have an encounter with every other team twice, enough always to keep the action going and give the fans numerous chances to possibly watch their favorite players in action. The league would then progress to its final stage: the playoffs, which would also include a final where top teams fight out for the ultimate LPL title.
One of the unique facets of LPL 2024 will be the introduction of “power-blast overs.” Only during these two unique overs—the 16th and 17th for each completed inning—will a maximum of four fielders be permitted outside the 30-yard circle, allowing for more scoring opportunities that will make the matches all the more exciting.
Furthermore, Matches will be held in three iconic venues: the R. That includes the Premadasa Stadium, in Colombo; the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium, located in Dambulla; and the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, in Kandy.
