The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced that a newly designed trophy will be unveiled for the upcoming eighth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). The unveiling ceremony will take place on February 9 in Lahore at the Shalimar Bagh (Garden) and will be attended by the captains of all six franchises and the PCB Management Committee Chairman, Najam Sethi.
According to a PCB official, the new trophy will be presented to the winners of the eighth edition of the PSL and will replace the one used in the previous seven editions. The official stated that efforts have been made to project Pakistan’s image in a better way through the trophy and it is hoped that cricket fans around the world will like the new design.
The official also stated that efforts are being made to have all the captains present for the trophy unveiling ceremony, including the captains of Multan Sultan and Lahore Qalandars. The opening ceremony is planned to be organized in a big way, with some exciting events planned. The official hopes that the ceremony will be as successful as it was in Dubai a few years ago.
Following the opening ceremony, the PSL will commence with a match between the Multan Sultans and Lahore Qalandars, to be played at the Multan Stadium on February 13. The league will run from February 13 to March 19.
The PCB official did not reveal how different the new trophy would be from the previous one, but stated that it would project Pakistan and its cricket in a better way. The PCB has taken efforts to make the trophy more attractive and appealing to cricket fans around the world.
