Pretoria Capitals fast bowler Anrich Nortje has been officially ruled out of the remainder of the SA20 and the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025 due to a back injury.
The 31-year-old, who was initially part of South Africa’s squad for the Champions Trophy, underwent scans on Monday that confirmed the severity of his injury.
Nortje’s absence will be a significant blow for both his domestic team and the national side. South Africa is set to begin their Champions Trophy campaign on 21 February against Afghanistan in Karachi, Pakistan.
The announcement of Nortje’s replacement is anticipated soon.
