Asia Cup 2025: Suryakumar Yadav and Salman Ali Agha Shake Hands, Video Goes Viral

Cricket’s fiercest rivalry took an intriguing turn on the eve of the Asia Cup 2025 as the spotlight shifted from bat and ball to a handshake. During the captains’ joint press conference on September 9 in Dubai, the interaction between India’s Suryakumar Yadav and Pakistan’s Salman Ali Agha captured fans’ attention and quickly went viral online.

The Salman Ali Agha and Suryakumar Yadav Handshake That Had Everyone Talking

As the media event wrapped up, Agha was seen leaving the stage without any customary handshake with India’s captain. Meanwhile, Suryakumar greeted other skippers including Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan. This moment sparked chatter across social media about whether the two star captains would avoid a handshake altogether.

Minutes later, however, cameras caught a second clip. Salman, already on his way out, extended his hand first when Suryakumar stepped down from the stage. The two shook hands briefly, exchanged greetings, and then moved on without fuss. Despite the quick exchange, the video spread like wildfire, with fans dissecting every frame. Even ACC president and PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi greeted Suryakumar warmly with a smile before the official photoshoot, adding another layer to the viral story.

For the second time in the evening, Pakistan’s skipper was the one who initiated the handshake.

Aggression vs Instincts Before the Big Clash

Beyond the handshake, the captains also addressed media queries about aggression in the much-anticipated India vs Pakistan clash. Suryakumar was firm that intensity would remain part of the contest. “Aggression (is) always there on field and you can’t do without aggression if you want to win,” he said when asked if his team would tone down against their rivals.

Salman responded with his own perspective, underlining freedom of expression for his players. “If someone wants to be aggressive that is his call. From my side I don’t give anyone any instructions,” the Pakistan captain noted.

Suryakumar further revealed that India had completed a series of solid practice sessions and were mentally ready for the challenge. “We have got few practice sessions. Feels good. It will be a good challenge playing best teams from Asia Cup,” he said.

India open their Group A campaign against UAE on September 10, followed by the marquee clash with Pakistan on September 14 in Dubai.
