Australia was in sight of a comfortable win vs Bangladesh while chasing 74 runs to win. Bangladesh batting collaped at the start and they were unable to recover from that position.
Highlights
- Austraila chances for semi final spot are now very much possible
- Adam Zampa claimed his maiden five-wicket haul.
The Adam Zampa show
By the time the powerplay ended, Bangladesh had lost another wicket, Hazlewood’s extra bounce cramping Naim into a miscued pull in the sixth over. Thereafter, it was all Adam Zampa
He was in the limelight of the match as he picked 5 wickets by just giving 19 runs. Captain Aaron Finch, who made 40 runs, and David Warner put on 58 for the opening wicket as Australia register a comfortable win just in 6.2 overs to move ahead of South Africa on net run-rate and boost their semi-final hopes.
Tasken Ahmed was the bowler who bowled Aaron’s finch after the blistering knock of 2 fours and 4 sixes in his 20 balls.
Starc began the match with three attempted yorkers aimed at the stumps. Mohammad Naim blocked the first one and inside-edged the second to fine leg for a single. The third angled across the right-handed Liton Das before swinging in late. Das pushed at it with an open face, looking for a single into the covers, and inside-edged into his stumps.
Only three Bangladesh batters got into double figures – the opener Naim, the captain Mahmudullah, and Shamim Hossain, who provided the innings its only real moments of spark when he slog-swept Starc and Zampa for a four and a six soon upon arrival. This World cup was not so much good for Bangladesh as they lost all plenty of their matches in the group stage and even in the qualifying round there was an upset there as they lost a match against Scotland.
