In a nail-biting encounter at the Galle International Stadium, Pakistan showcased their cricketing prowess, securing a thrilling four-wicket victory over Sri Lanka in the first Test match of the two-match series.
During the post-match press conference, Babar Azam, the captain of the Pakistan team, gracefully responded when asked if the win in the Galle Test was a message to his critics. Babar humbly said, “No, I don’t have any message for them.”
Instead, he shifted the focus to the collective effort put forth by each member of the team, emphasizing that their success was a result of everyone stepping up and making significant contributions.
“The credit goes to the team and their hard work, as every player is stepping up and making their performance count. Our focus is on improving as a team in every series,” Babar expressed with humility.
Addressing questions about Mohammad Rizwan’s future in Test cricket, Babar demonstrated his understanding of team dynamics and the importance of decision-making in the game.
While acknowledging Rizwan’s pivotal role as a key player, he emphasized that the final selection of the playing XI always depends on the prevailing conditions and what combination would best ensure the team’s success.
“We try to play with the best possible playing XI. He [Rizwan] is also our main player, but we try to choose the best combination according to the conditions. We are not here to decide anyone’s career,” Babar concluded with respect.
The Pakistani team’s remarkable performance and Babar’s humble leadership have left cricket fans in awe, eagerly anticipating the next Test match in this enthralling series.
