The Chairman of the PCB management committee, Najam Sethi, has confirmed that Babar Azam will lead the Pakistan team in the upcoming limited-overs series against New Zealand. This announcement comes in response to recent speculations in the media about the captaincy and selection of certain players.
In a tweet, Sethi assured Babar Azam that he will resume his normal services as captain in the ODI and T20I series against New Zealand after being rested in the Afghanistan series. Shadab, who led the side against Afghanistan, will return to his original position as vice-captain.
The squad will assemble in Lahore on 6 April for a training camp starting the next day. The T20I series will begin on 14 April at 9 pm, while the ODIs will start on 27 April at 3:30 pm.
The T20I squad includes Babar Azam (captain), Shadab Khan (vice-captain), Faheem Ashraf, Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf, Iftikhar Ahmed, Ihsanullah, Imad Wasim, Mohammad Haris, Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Rizwan, Naseem Shah, Saim Ayub, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Shan Masood, and Zaman Khan.
Meanwhile, the ODI squad comprises Babar Azam (captain), Shadab Khan (vice-captain), Abdullah Shafique, Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf, Haris Sohail, Ihsanullah, Imam-ul-Haq, Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Rizwan, Mohammad Wasim Jnr, Naseem Shah, Salman Ali Agha, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Shan Masood, and Usama Mir.
With the confirmation of Babar Azam’s captaincy, Pakistan fans can look forward to an exciting limited-overs series against New Zealand.
