Cricket Australia recently revealed that the 13th edition of the Big Bash Twenty20 League (BBL 13) will kick off on December 7 this year. The tournament will commence with a match between the Brisbane Heat and the Melbourne Stars at the Gabba. This exciting eight-team competition will feature double-headers on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
In the regular season, each team will participate in ten matches. Following this, a four-game finals series will take place, culminating in the highly anticipated final on January 24. Notably, the final will be played on a mid-week day, which is a departure from the norm and only the second time this format has been adopted.
BBL General Manager Alistair Dobson expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “We’re incredibly pleased and excited with the BBL fixtures we’ve been able to deliver this season.” The Perth Scorchers, having clinched their fifth championship by defeating the Heat in the previous season, will be defending their title.
