The third week of January saw some exciting matches in the Big Bash League (BBL 2022-23) that kept fans on the edge of their seats. Earlier, we covered the first two weeks of January and the action till the 15th of January. And are once again back to proceed with the next seven days, with the cycle beginning on January 16th with the Melbourne Stars taking on the Brisbane Heat.
The match was a last-ball thriller, with the Heat coming out victorious by three wickets. The following day, the Sydney Sixers faced off against the Adelaide Strikers, with the Sixers securing a 59-run victory as a result of their successful defence.
On January 18th, the Hobart Hurricanes met the Perth Scorchers, with the Scorchers winning by 7 wickets and 15 balls remaining. The next day, the Melbourne Renegades met the Sydney Thunder but were unfortunately defeated as the Thunder won by eight wickets and nine balls remaining.
January 20th was a double-header day, with the Adelaide Strikers taking on the Perth Scorchers and the Brisbane Heat facing off against the Hobart Hurricanes. The Scorchers and Heat came out victorious in their respective matches, winning by seven wickets and 12 runs, respectively.
The following day, the Sydney Sixers met the Sydney Thunder for the second time in the week, and the Sixers registered their second consecutive win of the week by winning by 125 runs. On January 22nd, the Stars met the Heat for the second time in the week but were once again unable to secure a victory as the Heat won their third consecutive match by four runs.
It’s worth noting that the Stars are currently at the bottom of the table with three straight losses and only 3 out of 13 wins. The Hurricanes, with two losses in their last two matches, are currently in second-to-last place and have only won 5 out of 12 games.
On the other hand, the Scorchers lead the table with three consecutive wins in their last three matches and have only three losses from 13 played. The Sixers are astonishing everyone with wins in their last five matches and are currently placed second. And the Heat, with four back-to-back wins, are also in contention for the top spot.
The BBL is known for its unpredictable nature and the third week of the tournament was no exception. The Stars and the Hurricanes will have to work hard to improve their performances and climb up the table, while the Scorchers, Sixers, and Heat will have to maintain their winning momentum to secure a spot in the playoffs. The tournament is heating up, and fans can expect more thrilling matches in the coming weeks.
