BCCI announced the squad for the T20 series against New Zealand, dropped many players

The Indian Cricket Board has announced the squad for the T20 series against New Zealand, but it does not include Kohli and other key players.

Consequently, after India‘s poor performance in World Twenty20, the Indian team was expected to be uprooted and now in the home series against New Zealand, Rohit Sharma has been given the leadership of the team while KL Rahul has been appointed as his deputy.

Virat Kohli had announced that he would step down as captain of the team after the ICC T20 World Cup and rumours were disseminating that Rohit Sharma would get the captaincy.

It is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post.  The Indian Cricket Board notified the players in a short press release.

By a statement issued by the board, Rohit Sharma will be the captain in the home series of three T20 matches against New Zealand starting from November 17.  KL Rahul has been made vice-captain.

Former captain Virat Kohli, Jaspreet Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammad Shami have not been included in the squad and have been reportedly left out to rest.
