Brazil Dominate to Seal Tri-Series Glory
Brazil Women completed their fairytale run in the ICC Women’s T20 Tri-Series 2025 by beating Jersey Women by eight wickets at New Farnley CC, Leeds. The victory not only capped off a dominant campaign but also highlighted Brazil’s rapid growth in women’s cricket.
Chasing 123 for victory, the South Americans made light work of the target, finishing on 126/2 in 15.3 overs to confirm themselves as champions of the tri-series.
Jersey’s Early Fire Fizzles Out
Sent in to bat, Jersey got off to a blistering start through Grace Wetherall, who cracked 36 off just 20 balls with four boundaries and two sixes. However, her dismissal triggered a collapse.
The rest of the order struggled against Brazil’s disciplined attack. Only Erin Gouge (19)* and Mia Maguire (13) provided some resistance as Jersey folded for 122 in 18.3 overs.
The standout was Maria Ribeiro, who ran through the line-up with figures of 4/17. She was ably backed by Lindsay Boas (3/28) and Nicole Monteiro (2/19), ensuring Jersey never got close to a par score.
Cardoso and Avery Shine in Clinical Chase
Brazil’s reply didn’t begin smoothly as they lost Laura Agatha for 0 and Boas for a breezy 15. But the match turned into a celebration of Laura Cardoso’s brilliance.
The 20-year-old all-rounder played with maturity beyond her years, smashing 71 not out off 43 balls with 11 fours and a six. She dominated the chase, taking control of the innings with fluent strokeplay all around the ground.
She found the perfect ally in Roberta Avery, whose composed 35 not out off 40 balls anchored the other end. Together, the pair stitched an unbeaten 108-run partnership, taking Brazil home with 27 balls to spare.

The victory was more than just a trophy—it was a statement. Brazil’s women’s team, once considered outsiders on the international circuit, are now producing consistent match-winners.
