Nepal T20 League is the first-ever franchise-based T20 league organized by the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN), also approved by the ICC, and the league has already faced serious allegations of Match Fixing/Spot Fixing in the middle of its inaugural edition. The league is facing allegations of Match Fixing/Spot Fixing for days already with professional players and officials already leaving the league.
With a statement signed by the Acting Secretary of the Cricket Association of Nepal, Prashant Bikram Malla, CAN has dismissed match-fixing claims as baseless and also requested not to spread false and misleading information.
CAN has also requested people to contact its central office or the Nepal T20 League’s Anti-Corruption Unit with proof if anyone has any information related to such match fixings.
The response from the CAN came up today which is just a day later of the Home Minister of Nepal, Rabi Lamichhane, ordered the Nepal Police to investigate the cases of betting, fixing and foreign players participating without work permits in the Nepal T20 League.
The Nepal T20 League started on 24 December 2022 and it’s seeking many questions already from the day of the start and also even before that. Contract with Seven3Sports, 1xBAT being the title sponsor of the league and unusual gameplays shown in the league are parts of such questions from the people.
Some professional players and a commentator have already left the league after not being satisfied with the conditions of the league.
