APIA – The Cook Islands showcased their batting prowess as they cruised to an 8-wicket win against Samoa in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup East Asia-Pacific Region Qualifier A at Faleata Oval No 2. Chasing 170, the Cook Islands comfortably reached the target with 19 balls to spare, thanks to a stunning century by Thomas Parima.
Batting first, Samoa posted a competitive 169/4 in their 20 overs. Contributions from Darren Roache (55 off 34) and Fereti Suluoto (35* off 27) anchored the innings, while Oscar Taylor led the bowling attack for the Cook Islands with 3/39.
In reply, the Cook Islands were powered by an explosive 104 off 52 balls by Thomas Parima, who smashed 10 fours and 7 sixes. His innings was well supported by Hayden Dickson (38 off 32), ensuring the Cook Islands chased down the target with ease, finishing at 170/2 in 16.5 overs.
