Cyprus completed a commanding 4-0 clean sweep over Croatia in their four-match T20I series at the Mladost Cricket Ground, Zagreb. The visitors delivered with both bat and ball in every encounter, winning all games by convincing margins and showcasing their depth, consistency, and firepower.
Mazumder’s Masterclass Sets the Tone in 1st T20I
The series opener on August 7, 2025, saw Cyprus post a massive 213/3. Roman Mazumder’s unbeaten 80 off 62 balls anchored the innings, supported by skipper Scott Burdekin’s 29 off 14 and Adam Senn’s explosive 55 off 34*. Croatia’s bowlers started well but had no answer to the late onslaught.
In reply, Croatia struggled against disciplined bowling. Skipper Zach Vukusic’s 43 and Saghar Manzoor’s unbeaten 32 were the only highlights as they finished on 155/6, handing Cyprus a 58-run victory. Mazumder was named Player of the Match.
Waqar Ali’s Four-Fer and Gunasekara’s Blitz Seal 2-0 Lead
Later the same day, Cyprus made it 2-0 with a seven-wicket win. Croatia, batting first, managed only 132 as Waqar Ali ripped through their lineup with 4/24, supported by Scott Austin’s 3/19.
Chasing, Cyprus lost early wickets but Mangala Gunasekara’s 64 off 40 balls turned the match decisively. Mazumder’s steady 36* guided them home with 25 balls to spare. Waqar Ali took the Player of the Match award for his match-winning spell.
Austin’s All-Round Brilliance Clinches the Series
On August 8, 2025, Cyprus secured the series with a tight three-wicket win in the 3rd T20I. Croatia posted 135/6, boosted by Hariprasad Satheedevi’s quickfire 43*. Kamal Raiz (2/13) and Scott Austin (1/18) kept the scoring in check.
Cyprus wobbled in the chase, slipping from 43/1 to 56/4. Austin’s aggressive 38 off 26 balls shifted the momentum before Alexander Senn’s unbeaten 37* saw them home in the 19th over. Austin earned the Player of the Match award for his all-round heroics.
Senn and Gunasekara Shine in 4-0 Sweep
In the final T20I, Cyprus proved their dominance once again, winning by 52 runs. Mangala Gunasekara (70 off 45) set the tone before Adam Senn exploded with a career-best 66 off 33 balls*, including five sixes. Their fifth-wicket stand of 75 lifted Cyprus to 193/6.
Croatia’s chase was derailed early, and despite efforts from Alfred Beresford-Peirse (30) and Saghar Manzoor (26), they folded for 141. Waqar Ali (3/22) and debutant Aminul Islam Chowdhury (2/14) did the damage. Senn claimed the Player of the Match award for his all-round performance.
