Dates and venue revealed for ICC's annual meeting

According to sources, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has scheduled its annual meeting in Durban, South Africa, from July 10 to 13. The meeting will address important issues such as the annual report and future plans in both the board and executive meetings.

One significant topic on the agenda will be the ICC T20 Cricket World Cup 2024, which is set to take place in the West Indies and the United States. The meeting will focus on assessing the infrastructure in the US, as the tournament will be held there for the first time. The scheduling of matches will depend on the readiness of the facilities.

The upcoming Asia Cup 2023, co-hosted by Pakistan and Sri Lanka, will also be a point of discussion among members of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). This follows India’s acceptance of Pakistan’s hybrid model for the tournament. After several challenges, the ACC finally approved the hybrid model, which entails the first four matches being played in Pakistan. Subsequently, the tournament will move to Sri Lanka for nine matches, including the final. The Asia Cup 2023 is scheduled to take place from August 31 to September 17.

Additionally, the ICC meeting will address the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which is slated to be held in Pakistan. Representatives from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will meet with representatives from other countries on the sidelines of the ICC meeting to discuss various matters.

Ahmed Shahzad Farooq Rana, the acting chairman of the PCB, will be representing Pakistan at the ICC meeting. This is due to the delay in the elections for the PCB chairman, which were initially planned for June 27. The Balochistan High Court received a petition from Gul Mohammad Kakar, a former member of the PCB management committee, challenging the chairman elections.

The petitioners requested the court to halt the elections and suspend the Board of Governors (BoG) until a verdict is reached on their petitions. They argued that the establishment of the BoG was against the nominations of the ex-management committee and that any meeting between the BoG and the election of the cricket board’s chairman would be deemed illegal.
