In an exhilarating match at Lord’s, the 15th fixture of The Hundred Women’s Competition saw London Spirit and Oval Invincibles lock horns, culminating in a nail-biting tie. Batting first, London Spirit posted a modest total of 113/9 in their allotted 100 balls, with Deepti Sharma leading the charge with a composed 44 off 34 balls. Despite a shaky start with Meg Lanning falling early for just 1 run, Deepti’s steady hand and Eva Gray’s late flourish of 18 not out ensured a fighting total.

Marizanne Kapp was the standout bowler for the Invincibles, delivering a sensational performance with figures of 4/11 in her 20 balls. Her early strikes removed key batters like Lanning, Georgia Redmayne, and Cordelia Griffith, setting the tone for a disciplined bowling display. Ryana MacDonald-Gay and Sophia Smale provided crucial support, each claiming two wickets to keep the Spirit batters in check.

Chasing 114 for victory, Oval Invincibles got off to a rocky start, losing Chamari Athapaththu and Lauren Winfield-Hill cheaply. However, Alice Capsey and Marizanne Kapp formed a vital partnership, with Capsey scoring a brisk 27 off 18 balls. Kapp continued her fine form from the bowling innings, anchoring the chase with a superb 47 off 32 balls, including six boundaries and one maximum.

Deepti Sharma was the star with the ball for London Spirit, taking 3/18 in her 20 balls. Her crucial wickets of Capsey and Paige Scholfield kept the game hanging in the balance. Tara Norris and Eva Gray also contributed with economical spells, making scoring difficult for the Invincibles. With just three runs needed off the final ball, Ryana MacDonald-Gay was run out attempting the winning run, resulting in a thrilling tie.

Marizanne Kapp was deservedly named Player of the Match for her all-round brilliance. Her efforts with both bat and ball were pivotal in keeping the Invincibles in the contest.
