Fake Twitter account of Zaka Ashraf suspended by PCB

A fake Twitter account of Zaka Ashraf, the newly appointed chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) management committee, has been successfully taken down. The imposter, who managed to have their account verified in June 2023, posed as Ashraf by including “Chairman @TheRealPCB” in their profile description and utilizing the hashtag “#ZakaAshraf.”

fake Twitter account of Zaka Ashraf no more exists

Following the dissemination of cryptic tweets by the impersonator, the PCB swiftly confirmed that the account was fake and promptly reported it to Twitter. In an official statement, the PCB clarified, “Mr Zaka Ashraf does not have an account on [Twitter]. This is a fake account and has been reported to [Twitter] by the PCB.”

During its existence since February 2021, the individuals behind the deceptive account posted a total of 55 tweets and even replied to a controversial journalist, Shoaib Jatt on various occassions. However, their fraudulent activities were short-lived as the account has recently been deactivated, putting an end to their charade.

The PCB’s swift action in reporting the fake account demonstrates their commitment to maintaining transparency and safeguarding the integrity of their communication channels. As the cricket board continues to navigate the digital landscape, ensuring that fans, players, and stakeholders have access to reliable and genuine updates remains a top priority.
