Zimbabwe has named its squad for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Ireland, set to begin in mid-January. Unfortunately, a few key players will be absent from the team, including Sikandar Raza, Blessing Muzarabani, Regis Chakabva, and Milton Shumba.
The squad features four changes from the team that competed in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in Australia last year. One notable addition is former England player Gary Ballance, who recently signed a two-year contract with Zimbabwe cricket to play both domestic and international matches.
While the absence of some key players may be a challenge for Zimbabwe, the team will undoubtedly be looking to make the most of this opportunity to compete against Ireland and put their skills to the test. It will be interesting to see how the team performs in the upcoming series.
Gary Ballance, a former England cricketer, recently signed a two-year contract with Zimbabwe cricket to play both domestic and international matches. This move came after he was released from Yorkshire, where he had played since 2007.
Upon joining Zimbabwe cricket, Ballance expressed his excitement for the opportunity to represent his home country. “I’m thrilled to be joining Zimbabwe Cricket and can’t wait to start work with some great coaches and talented players,” he said. “The opportunity to represent Zimbabwe has given me a new-found passion and excitement for the game.”
It will be interesting to see how Ballance performs as he represents Zimbabwe in both domestic and international matches. His experience and talent make him a valuable addition to the team.
It is pertinent to mention that the two teams will engage in a three-match T20I series. The matches are to be played on January 12, 14th, and 15th, respectively.
