Clyde Godfrey Butts was born on July 8, 1957, in Perseverance, East Coast, Demerara, British Guiana. His cricketing journey spanned across formats, showcasing his prowess as a right-handed batsman and a right-arm off-break bowler. Besides his on-field exploits, Butts later transitioned into cricket administration, contributing to the sport’s growth off the pitch as well.

In his Test career, Butts played 7 matches, taking 10 wickets with a best bowling figure of 4/73. His influence extended to First-Class cricket, where he featured in 87 matches, amassing an impressive 348 wickets, including a remarkable 7/29. In List A cricket, he showcased his all-round skills with 32 appearances and 32 wickets, featuring a best of 4/25.

Clyde Butts made his Test debut against New Zealand at Georgetown from April 6 to 11, 1985. His Test journey concluded against India at Chennai from January 11 to 15, 1988. In First-Class cricket, Butts’ span ranged from the 1980/81 season to 1993/94, while in List A matches, he played from 1983/84 to 1993/94.
