Pakistan’s chances of qualifying for the World Cup semi-finals are in jeopardy as they also lost to Zimbabwe in their second Super 12 clash at the Perth Stadium on Thursday.
After losing to India in their opening match at the MCG on Sunday, the Babar Azam-led Pakistan needed a confidence-boosting performance to get their campaign going in order to go into the knockouts.
They came 1 run short of achieving the 131-run target by Zimbabwe due to the batting collapse. Two wickets went in the final two deliveries and Pakistan was ultimately defeated.
Former Pakistan cricketers pitched in their thoughts about the humiliating defeat. Mohammad Amir also didn’t hold back his anger and bashed the PCB chairman and chief selector. He showed his rage in a tweet where he said who will take the responsibility now? He was furious enough to write that it is now the time to get rid of the PCB Chairman, Ramiz Raja, and Chief Selector, Mohammad Wasim.
Mohammad Amir’s Tweet:
He tweeted, “from day one I said poor selection ub is cheez ki responsibility kon le ga I think it’s time to get rid of so called chairman jo pcb ka khuda bana hwa hai and so called chief selector.” [“From day one I said poor selection. Now, who will take the responsibility for this? I think it’s time to get rid of the so-called chairman who has become the God of PCB and so-called chief selector.”]
Pakistan will now face the Netherlands in their third clash of the Super 12 at Optus Stadium on Sunday, October 30.
