Global Celebrity League (GCL) Kicks Off in Qatar With Stars Like Afridi and Others

Qatar’s sporting landscape has just received a dazzling boost with the launch of the Global Celebrity League (GCL) in style, mixing cricket, glamour, and global star power. The star-studded Curtain Raiser event provided the perfect introduction to what is shaping up to be a revolutionary tournament, bringing together sporting legends and entertainment stars in a never-before-seen sporting extravaganza.

Patronized by His Excellency Sheikh Saoud Abdullah Al Thani, Chairman of GCL, the league hopes to transform cricket in the region. GCL President Arif Malik presented ambitious plans to position Qatar as a top-of-the-range cricket destination, supported by the Ministry of Sports and Youth Qatar. Highlights of the evening included the launch of team jerseys, with five franchises from Pakistan, India, Qatar, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan—each owned by well-known investors such as Fireox’s Waqas Alvi (owner of Pakistan’s franchise).

Cricket legend Shahid Afridi (Lala) was declared the Brand Ambassador of the league, creating waves of enthusiasm among fans. Adding to the glamour, the former Pakistan firebrand Imran Nazir also announced his joining, assuring hot competition.

With a combination of cricket legends and showbiz stars, GCL promises to revolutionize celebrity cricket, providing electrifying games in Qatar’s state-of-the-art stadiums. As excitement mounts, the league is already being touted as the next big thing in international sports entertainment.
