Pakistani cricketer Ahmed Shehzad surprisingly claims that the senior players from the cricket circuit have resented his good looks and fashion sense. Shehzad, last seen in a Pakistan jersey during 2019, has not gained enough opportunities both domestically and internationally to play. The player of former Quetta Gladiators has frequently talked about these experiences, including alleged targeted exclusion from Pakistan’s cricketing fraternity.
Speaking on a podcast hosted by Ahmed Ali Butt, Shehzad revealed how his appearance and growing popularity created friction with senior teammates. “Being good-looking has caused me a lot of problems. In our field, if you look good, know how to dress, and speak well, some people start to resent you,” he shared, highlighting the challenges faced by cricketers who focus on personal grooming and public image.
Shehzad refrained from naming individuals but indicated that his quick rise to fame had not been well-received by some within the team. He added, “I’ve been a target within the Pakistani team for this. I’m not defending myself here, but there are others who have also faced this. If your fan following grows and people appreciate you, it’s hard for some senior players to accept.”

The 32-year-old batsman, who hails from Anarkali, Lahore, reflected on his journey, stating that his efforts to improve himself off the field were not well-regarded. “When I gained recognition, I worked on grooming myself and improving my personality. But this has caused significant problems within Pakistan cricket,” he said.
Shehzad’s career has also been on a steady decline. He was one of the worst performers in the 2020 Pakistan Super League season, scoring only 61 runs in seven innings. Though he was part of the Quetta Gladiators’ title-winning squad in 2019, his inconsistency with the bat has kept him out of national selection. Shehzad has played 13 Tests, 81 ODIs, and 59 T20Is but could not establish himself in any format throughout his career.
