With Victoria already booking their place in the GSL 2024 final, Lahore Qalandars stand on the brink of securing the second qualification spot. A victory against Rangpur Riders in their upcoming clash on December 5 will guarantee their passage to the final.
Currently tied with Guyana Amazon Warriors at 4 points, Lahore’s path is straightforward—a win will take them to 6 points and confirm their qualification, eliminating both Guyana and Rangpur from contention. Their impressive 10-run win over Victoria in their last game gives them momentum and confidence heading into this critical encounter.
However, the stakes couldn’t be higher. If Lahore fail to secure a win, the qualification race will become a battle of net run rate (NRR). In such a scenario, all three teams—Guyana, Lahore, and Rangpur—will finish with 4 points. Unfortunately for Lahore, they are at a disadvantage with an NRR of -0.076, compared to Guyana’s +0.107 and Rangpur’s +0.083. This makes a loss a risky proposition for the Qalandars.
