Warriors Rise as Champions in Electrifying GSL 2025 Finale

In a thrilling showdown under the lights of Providence Stadium, the Guyana Amazon Warriors delivered a complete performance to dethrone Rangpur Riders and lift the 2025 Global Super League (GSL) trophy in front of a delirious home crowd.

Veteran skipper Imran Tahir, at 46 years young, led from the front with the toss and with the ball, as the Warriors compiled a tournament-best 196/4 before restricting the Riders to 164 all out, sealing a 32-run win and etching their name into GSL history.

Explosive Batting Display Sets the Tone

After losing opener Evin Lewis early, the Warriors quickly seized control with a match-defining 121-run partnership between Johnson Charles (67 off 48) and Rahmanullah Gurbaz (66 off 38). The pair peppered the boundaries with elegant timing and brutal power, punishing anything off-length from the Riders’ bowling unit.

Despite using seven bowlers, Rangpur failed to find answers. Sherfane Rutherford and Romario Shepherd provided a late surge, ensuring the Warriors finished with momentum and a daunting total of 196 – the highest score in this year’s tournament.

Riders Collapse Under Pressure

Chasing a big target on a slowing pitch, Rangpur Riders started with intent but never truly found their rhythm. Wickets fell regularly, and even though Saif Hassan threatened with a brisk 41 off 26, a sharp run-out halted his innings at a crucial juncture.

Iftikhar Ahmed, one of the Riders’ key men, was undone by the guile of Dwaine Pretorius, who starred with 3/37. The spin trio of Moeen Ali (1/13), Imran Tahir (2/39), and Pretorius choked the middle overs, taking key wickets and squeezing the run rate.

A Triumph Years in the Making

The victory was the culmination of an impressive campaign for Guyana, who remained composed in crunch moments and peaked at the perfect time. Every department fired — from explosive top-order batting to clever bowling rotations — in what proved to be a complete team display.

Skipper Imran Tahir’s tactical masterclass, Gurbaz’s fearless knock, and Moeen’s miserly spell all played starring roles in what will be remembered as one of the most complete finals in GSL history.
