Harry Brook proved his worth in the fourth fixture of Sunrisers Hyderabad’s ongoing Indian Premier League season 16 campaign against Kolkata Knight Riders. After facing three consecutive failures, Brook rose to the occasion and scored a sensational century, hitting an unbeaten 100 off just 55 balls. He smashed 12 fours and three sixes to help SRH post an imposing 228/4 in the first innings, leading the team to a 23-run victory.
Former India bowler Harbhajan Singh applauded Brook’s performance and his ability to cover his weaknesses against spin. Singh stated that Brook has been taking singles and doubles to hide his struggles against spin and saves his aggressive shots for weaker deliveries from pacers. He also commended the support that Brook received from his teammates.
“Brook plays fast bowling well. He has an array of shots in his batting repertoire against fast bowlers. Although he isn’t very strong against spin, he hides his weakness by taking singles and doubles. Whenever he gets a chance, he hits the weak balls from the pacers for boundaries. Also, he is getting good support from other SRH batsmen. This will give him a lot of confidence going forward,” Singh said on Star Sports.
The upcoming fixture will see SRH take on Mumbai Indians at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. Both teams started their campaigns with back-to-back losses before staging a brilliant comeback with two consecutive wins each.
Former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif expressed hope to see Mumbai’s aggressive batting performances of old. “Hopefully, we’ll see that old Mumbai Indians side against Sunrisers Hyderabad. MI of the old was known for its aggressive batting performances, and the last two games were a testimony to that,” Kaif told Star Sports.
With two consecutive victories under their belt, SRH will look to maintain their winning streak against Mumbai. Similarly, Mumbai will be eager to continue their winning momentum and complete a hat-trick of victories against Hyderabad.
