Hayden Dickson scored a blasting 57-ball 112* for Cook Islands in today’s match against Vanuatu to secure a big win of 9 wickets in the opening match of the running ICC Men’s T20 World Cup EAP Sub-Regional Qualifier A. It is also the first ever T20I 100 in Men’s Cricket for Cook Islands.
The match was played in Samoa where the Qualifier is being hosted. The first match was between Cook Islands and Vanuatu.
Winning the toss, Cook Islands elected to bowl first in the match. Vanuatu made 180/5 on board with the help of Andrew Mansale’s half-century knock of 64 runs in 40 balls. Tim Cutler added 34*(19), Junior Kaltapau added 25(20) and Ronald Tari added 21*(7) for the team. Nalin Nipiko made 9(8) in the match for Vanuatu.
Oscar Taylor and Milton Kavana took two wickets each in the match for Cook Islands where Jared Tutty also picked a wicket in his name.
Opener Hayden Dickson made 112*(57) for Cook Islands in the chase where he hit 10 Fours and 7 Sixes to bat at the strike rate of 196.49. Ma’ara Ave, the captain of Cook Islands, made 36*(32) and Thomas Parima added 32(22) to make the chase successful.
Joshua Rasu was the only bowler of Vanuatu to take a wicket in the match.
