Hong Kong dominating in Women’s East Asia Cup 2022: Wins against Japan in the third T20I of the tournament

Women’s East Asia Cup 2022 which began on October 27, 2022, had its third match of the tournament and Hong Kong Women defeated Japan Women by 3 runs to secure the title of the 4-matches tournament.

Hong Kong Women won the toss in the third game of the tournament and elected to bat first. Batting first, Hong Kong was able to set a very good target of 143 runs for Japan Women. While batting in the first inning, Hong Kong lost only two wickets to finish the inning at 142/2 on the board.

Natasha Miles and Mariko Hill opened the inning for Hong Kong. Mariko Hill lost her wicket at 31 runs playing 22 balls. The other opener from Hong Kong played the full inning to make an unbeaten 86 runs off 70 balls. The other two players from Hong Kong, Shanzeen Shahzad and Yasmin Daswani, played 6 and 24 balls respectively to make 3 and 12 runs respectively. Japanese bowling provided 10 runs as extras to Hong Kong.

Mai Yanagida and Ayumi Fujikawa were the two players from Japan to take wickets of Hong Kong Women.

Japan while chasing the target of 143 runs came to bat in the second inning and was able to make 139 runs playing the full inning at the loss of 4 wickets. Japan Women came close to the target but remained 4 runs back to win the game.

Akari Kano and Erika Oda opened the inning for Japan. Akari Kano made a very well half-century in the game and was run out at 54 runs playing 50 balls. Erika Oda lost her wicket at 41 runs playing 32 balls. Ahilya Chandelmade 25 runs off 32 balls and Shimako Kato made a run off 5 balls for Japan. Mai Yanagida and Shizuka Miyaji could play single ball each with no runs in their pocket. Hong Kong Women provided 187 runs as extras to Japan Women.

Mariko Hill and Ruchitha Venkatesh were able to book a wicket each in their name from Hong Kong.

Natasha Miles was the Player Of The Match in today’s game.

Hong Kong is leading the series by 3-0 after today’s match.

The fourth match of the tournament will be played tomorrow.

Hong Kong Women have booked the title of the tournament in their name.
