Former Pakistani skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed has talked about his relationship with Pakistan Cricket Team, composed of current captain Babar Azam, and other players in that. While many assume that Ahmed’s relation might have deteriorate after losing his place as a player in the team, he has neglected all the assumptions.
Sarfaraz defines his relationship with Babar and others as ‘very good’. His statements highlight that despite losing his place as a player in the national squad, he has maintained friendly communications with all.
Notably, majority of the players in the current squad have played under Sarfaraz’s captaincy for more than five years. Neglecting any ebb and flow in their relationship, Sarfaraz stressed,
“My relation with Babar, Rizwan and other players is very good. We played together for five years. Babar, Imam, Hassan, Shadab, Faheem, Rumman, Anwar, we all share very good bond,”
Sarfaraz Ahmed dreams to make a national comeback
Since Sarfaraz has not been part of the national squad for a long now, he is eying a national comeback and finds himself fit to play a big role in Pakistan’s success. Talking about his return ahead of the World Cup 2023 in India, the ex-skipper said although it is up to the board, yet he is ready to garnish every chance.
“As a professional cricketer, I am ready to play in every format. It’s always the decision of the selection committee and management to include players,”
“As far as I am playing cricket, I try to keep myself fit for every opportunity,”
It is pertinent to mention that Sarfaraz led Pakistan from 2016 to 2019. Under his leadership, Pakistan defeated India in the Champions Trophy 2017 final. Among other achievements as a captain, he also led Pakistan to become World’s number one T20I team, and winning 11 consecutive series in a row.
