ICC Level 1 Basic Umpiring Course Successfully Concluded in Oman

Muscat, Oman: The cricketing landscape in Oman has taken another significant step forward with the successful conclusion of the ICC Level 1 Basic Umpiring Course at the Oman Cricket Academy in Al Amerat. The program, conducted from 6–10 August 2025, was overseen by ICC educators Mr. Rahul Asher and Mr. Vinod Babu.

The initiative attracted 31 aspiring umpires, including four female participants, underlining the increasing inclusivity and enthusiasm for cricket officiating in the Sultanate.

Building Strong Foundations

The five-day program was designed to provide a comprehensive introduction to the Laws of Cricket and the core responsibilities of an umpire. Sessions combined theory-based learning, interactive case studies, and practical assessments, ensuring that participants gained both knowledge and confidence to officiate at the grassroots and domestic levels.

This blend of structured classroom instruction and hands-on experience is in line with ICC’s global standards, preparing officials who can contribute to the game with integrity and precision.
