The future of USA Cricket is hanging by a thread as the International Cricket Council (ICC) weighs suspending the national board just weeks before its July 2025 Annual Conference. With the 12-month notice period ending, the ICC is reportedly running out of patience with the United States’ cricket authority. The possible ICC to suspend the USA Cricket Board decision follows prolonged issues around governance, lack of transparency, and resistance to internal reform.

The USA Cricket Board (USAC) was initially served with a governance notice in July 2024 due to severe administrative lapses. Since then, a normalization committee was established to stabilize operations. However, insiders claim that over the past year, progress has been virtually non-existent, despite guidance and ample time provided by the ICC. One ICC official described the situation as “no longer sustainable,” pointing to repeated delays and internal conflict as ongoing obstacles.

Earlier this month, an ICC delegation met with U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC) officials in Los Angeles to assess USAC’s current state. With cricket returning to the Olympic Games in 2028, the U.S. is poised to be a central figure in hosting and promoting the sport. Those close to the discussions emphasized that the ICC views good governance as a non-negotiable standard, especially given cricket’s Olympic resurgence. “The credibility of the sport is at stake,” one source said. “USAC cannot continue on this trajectory.”

Despite no official suspension yet, the warning is clear: unless immediate changes are implemented in USAC leadership and structure, sanctions are imminent. A suspension would be devastating, cutting the USA off from ICC funding, global tournaments, and hosting rights, all while the countdown to the Olympics ticks on.
