Imad Wasim, the talented all-rounder from Nottinghamshire, delivered a remarkable performance in the third quarter-final match against Somerset during the thrilling Vitality Blast 2023. Despite his impressive efforts, Nottinghamshire fell short and bid farewell to the tournament.
Imad’s unbeaten 31 runs off just 15 balls proved instrumental in guiding his team to a competitive total of 157/6. When Nottinghamshire was struggling at 108/6 in the 16th over, Imad’s quickfire innings, consisting of two fours and one six, provided the much-needed momentum.
The 34-year-old also showcased his bowling prowess by delivering a double-wicket maiden over. He dismissed two top batsmen consecutively and conceded only 33 runs in his four overs.
However, Somerset managed to chase down the target, securing victory with just three deliveries remaining and five wickets in hand.
In an unexpected turn of events, Worcestershire faced defeat against Hampshire in the fourth quarter-final match of the ongoing 2023 Blast tournament. Worcestershire’s batting faltered from the beginning, resulting in a meager total of 100 runs, with the team being bowled out in the 17th over.
Amidst the struggle, Usama Mir showed resilience and scored 39 runs off 34 deliveries, including four boundaries and a six, lifting the team’s spirits from a dire situation at 29/6.
However, Hampshire comfortably chased down the target with 4.3 overs to spare, losing only five wickets along the way.
Usama Mir, the 27-year-old, demonstrated his bowling excellence by claiming two wickets while conceding a mere 20 runs in his four-over spell.
Unfortunately, Worcestershire’s low target proved insufficient against Hampshire’s strong performance, leading to their exit from the tournament.
