The sixth and the last match of the group stage of the running South Africa Women’s T20I Tri-Series have been over today with India Women taking an 8-wicket win over the West Indies Women.
India Women had won the toss in the game and elected to field first.
West Indies Women while batting first made 94 runs at the loss of 6 wickets in their 20 overs. Hayley Matthews was the top run scorer for the team with 34 runs in 34 balls. Zaida James followed Hayley with 21 not-out runs in 31 balls.
Deepti Sharma took three wickets for India Women in the game. Pooja Vastrakar took two wickets and Rajeshwari Gayakwad took a wicket to join the wicket-taking party in the game. India Women conceded seven extras to West Indies Women while bowling.
India Women while chasing the target made 95 runs at the loss of 2 wickets in 13.5 overs and won the game. With the win, they lead the points table of the series. For India Women, Jemimah Rodrigues was the top run contributor in the game with 42 not-out runs off 39 balls followed by Harmanpreet Kaur with 32 not-out runs off 23 balls.
Shamilia Connell and Hayley Matthews took a wicket each for West Indies Women in the game. West Indies Women conceded three extras to India Women while bowling.
Deepti Sharma was the Player of the Match for her 3/11 in bowling.
West Indies could not win a game in the series. India Women and South Africa Women, being the first and the second respectively in the points table, will be looking for the series title in the final game which will be played on 2 February 2023 at East London.
