Japan Cricket Association is introducing the Women’s Japan Premier League (WJPL) from this year

Japan Cricket Association (JCA) is all set to launch the Women’s Japan Premier League (WJPL) which will have its first edition in July 2023. The tournament will feature two teams including overseas players and will consists of three T20 matches between the teams. Players from Hong Kong, South Africa and Australia are set to join the tournament as overseas players.

JCA has announced that the players for the two teams will be selected based on the player’s place of birth, with the iconic Mount Fuji as the dividing line. Players born to the east of Fuji will play for the Eastern Waves and anyone born to the west will play for the Western Eagles, as per the JCA.

The tournament will kick off on 15 July 2023 and will run till 17 July 2023. Sano International Cricket Ground will see the inaugural edition of the Women’s Japan Premier League (WJPL).

All the players from overseas are due to arrive on Friday 7th July as per the JCA and they will join an intense training camp taking place on the 8th and 9th of July.

All the matches are set to starting at 10.00 and will be telecasted live on the JCA YouTube Channel. JCA have stated to announce the full squads in due course.
